Terms of use

Last updated 24 October 2026. By using GrowDate Atlas you accept these terms. They are short because the site is simple: it turns published frost dates and published planting rules into calendars, with the source on every page.

What the site provides

GrowDate Atlas shows freeze dates from the NOAA/NCEI U.S. Climate Normals for 1991–2020 at named weather stations, and planting windows worked out from them using timing rules published by university extension services, cited on the pages that use them. The planting calendar tool does the same arithmetic in your browser with the dates you choose. The methodology page lists every source, retrieval date and assumption.

General information, not a forecast or advice

Everything on the site is general information. A climate normal is a 30-year average, not a forecast: any year's last spring frost or first fall frost can come earlier or later than the normal date, and a garden can be colder or warmer than the station it is matched to. Planting dates on the site are a starting point for your own judgement. Check the weather forecast for planting week, and for advice on your own garden, ask your local cooperative extension office. The site does not give pest, disease, fertilizer, variety or other individual advice, and it makes no promise about any harvest.

Accuracy and changes at the source

Figures are taken from the sources named on each page as they read on the dates shown. NOAA and extension services can revise what they publish; where the site and a source's current version differ, the source governs. If you find a figure that does not match its source, please report it through the contact page.

No warranty and limit of liability

The site and its tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability. To the extent permitted by law, GrowDate Atlas is not liable for any loss or damage, including lost plants or crops, arising from use of, or reliance on, the site, its calendars or its tools.

Using the content

NOAA's climate normals are public data and can be obtained from NOAA directly; extension publications belong to the institutions that publish them. You may link to any page on GrowDate Atlas and quote short passages with a link back. Republishing the site's own text, calendars or charts in bulk needs permission by email.

Other sites and names

Pages link to NOAA, university extension services and other sources. GrowDate Atlas does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content. GrowDate Atlas is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, NOAA or any university or organisation named on the site; names are used only to identify where information came from.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date at the top of the page changes with them.
